All balances and scales require calibration. When you purchase a scale for your business, it may have been calibrated at the factory. However, there is a very good chance the scale will have calibration errors when it finally arrives due to handling as well as environmental factors.

Scales and balances are sensitive instruments. The normal bumps and bruises experienced during shipment can result in calibration errors that are hard to detect without proper test procedures and test weights. Even a perfectly-calibrated scale with a perfectly smooth shipping process could show calibration errors simply due to the differences in altitude and latitude and differences in gravitational effects at different geographic locations. To ensure the accuracy of scales and balances, it is best to calibrate your equipment at your business location.

Any scale used for commercial, “legal-for-trade,” applications must undergo additional calibration. To validate the performance of scales and balances, scale technicians may use the Handbook 44 scale calibration standard developed by the National Conference of Weights and Measures (NCWM) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Furthermore, the scale may need to meet other calibration standards specific the industry in which they are used.

Scale Calibration Services Performed by Certified Technicians

It’s obvious that when you select a company to provide your scale calibration services, you want to be sure the team is educated and experienced in scale calibration and understands your process needs. How can you be sure? There are two factors that, together, can put your mind at ease: company scope of accreditation and certified technicians.

If you’ve been searching for ISO 17025 Accredited calibration services in PA, you’re on the right track. When a company like Precision Solutions is accredited to this standard, it provides an assurance of calibration traceability as well as proficiency in performing the calibrations.

The second part is equally important — you want to make sure the technicians with the company are Certified Weighing Technicians (CWT). That means they are certified by the International Society of Weights and Measures. To obtain this certification, there’s a lengthy list of requirements, including formal training on the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) H44 documentary standard.

Our accredited scale calibration services are delivered by our NIST H44-trained and International Society of Weighing and Measurement (ISWM)-certified technicians to ensure your equipment meets the highest standards. We can perform calibration in our state-of-the-art Quakertown lab or on-site at your PA or NJ facility. All of our CWTs share the Precision Solutions quest of keeping your equipment operating efficiently, reliably, and accurately while meeting all compliance requirements.

Precision Solutions: Your One-Stop Weight Scale Calibration Source in PA and NJ

When choosing scale calibration services for your PA or NJ company, it’s important to choose an ISO 17025 Accredited provider so you can be sure you have National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceability. If any part of the required documentation isn’t there, the calibration is not traceable, and to an auditor it may viewed as though the calibration never happened. This means the time and money you invested in having your scales calibrated may have been wasted and your audit is in jeopardy.

Precision Solutions is an ISO 17025-accredited calibration services provider that can meet all your calibration needs, whether you’re looking to put new weighing equipment into service or fulfill the requirements for existing scales and weighing systems. Our technicians are certified for testing and calibrating scales to meet Handbook 44 tolerances. We’ll also make sure you comply with state reporting requirements.

We have a state-of-the-art laboratory in Quakertown, PA, specifically designed to perform calibration services. Precision Solutions Certified Weighing Technicians are also available to calibrate on-site, eliminating the need to deliver the equipment to a calibration lab and then wait days or weeks to get it back.

At Precision Solutions, we strive to take care of every measurement so our customers can focus on growing and improving their business.

Services for All Types of Scales

Scale Calibration Services

Precision Solutions has the knowledge, capabilities and resources to perform calibration and repairs for all types of commercial and industrial scales, including floor, truck, hopper, counting, crane, tank and bench scale models. We support our services with our benchmark customer care that is the core of our company and is evident in every customer interaction.

Bench / Shipping Scales

These scales are used in a wide variety of industries for several different tasks, including shipping and receiving, carton filling, food or chemical processing and general weighing purposes. Regardless of what industry you’re in, keeping your bench/shipping scales calibrated is important. Without it, you could be risking lost income or a bad batch of food or chemicals resulting in product recall.

Counting Scales

If your counting scale breaks or isn’t calibrated properly, you risk product giveaway and revenue loss. These scales calculate bulk quantities of small, identical parts with precision and speed. But that precision can be compromised if your scale isn’t calibrated. If you use counting scales in PA or NJ, we’re here to ensure your scales are calibrated and every piece is counted in your next weighment.

Crane Scales

As you’re moving and weighing heavy materials with crane scales, there is little room left for error. Small differences in weight can result in expensive mistakes whether you’re on a construction site or transporting materials. Whether your crane scale needs to be repaired or you’re searching for crane scale calibration services in PA or NJ, our field service team can get your scales back on the jobsite as soon as possible.

Floor Scales / Platform Scales

These scales are used in a variety of industries and can offer rugged, durable and accurate weighing even in the harshest environments. No matter where the floor scale is implemented, one fact remains the same: you can’t afford for your industrial scale to be out of service and in need of calibration or repair. Whether you’re weighing pallets, manufactured goods, or carts full of product, we know you are counting on your equipment to work properly.

At Precision Solutions our certified technicians can identify the source of weighment issues in floor scales, and offer suggestions to your operations and maintenance teams to ensure your equipment is protected from damage in the operation. Many floor scales are integrated scale indicators to control processes or perform check-weighing functions. Our Integrated Solutions team at Precision Solutions can write custom programs and software to ensure your floor scale performs every function as desired.

Forklift Scales

Forklift Use with Scales
Forklift scales can be a great addition to any team working on a LEAN initiative or looking to increase their throughput rate. Whether your forklift is fulfilling orders in a warehouse or moving material in your manufacturing facility, we know it is essential for your forklift scale to remain online. If your forklift scale is in need of calibration, we’ll respond quickly to get your forklift scale back up and running as soon as possible. Furthermore, our Integrated Solutions team can assist you with any data communications challenges your forklift scales may face.

Health / Medical Scales

We understand that having a health and medical scale that’s out of order can affect the health and wellbeing of patients, athletes, seniors, expecting mothers, infants and people from all walks of life. Whether you have a handrail scale, chair scale or eye-level scale, our team of CWTs is available to come to your facility and calibrate or repair your scale so you can continue to provide patient and student care with confidence in your data.

Hopper and Tank Scales

Our technicians can often be found calibrating tank and hopper scales in manufacturing facilities including meat and poultry, food and beverage, manufacturing and chemical, and pharmaceutical. Across all industries, we know calibration issues in tank and hopper scales can lead to massive financial losses due to product being given away or batches being incorrectly measured. Poorly calibrated tank and hopper scales can lead to inaccurate inventory, production interruptions, quality problems, underfilling or overfilling, or unnecessary product refills/reorders. Our technicians are experienced with tank and hopper scales and will find creative solutions to ensure your weighments are captured accurately. Furthermore, if you are looking to automate batching or filling functions, our Integrated Solutions team can write custom programs to control weighments and related processes.

In-Motion Scales

Whether you’re searching for calibration services or scale repairs for your in-line checkweighers, overhead monorail scales or custom in-motion scale, we can help. We understand that conveyor downtime affects your bottom line. We also know that packing up these scales is next to impossible. That’s why calibration from our field service team is the perfect solution; our CWTs will come to your site to ensure your scales are calibrated or fixed as soon as possible.

Intrinsically Safe / Hazardous Environment Scales

Hazardous environments often demand unique weighing solutions. While these solutions for hazardous environments are unique, they aren’t foreign to our team of Certified Weighing Technicians. Precision Solutions is ISO 17025 Accredited through A2LA and will ensure that your scales are calibrated with care no matter what environment you work in. If you are looking to monitor weighment data in a hazardous area, our Integrated Solutions team can build you a custom solution to send weighment data from your hazardous area to your safe area where it can be monitored.

Truck Scales

Truck scales can be incredibly accurate tools to capture weighments even in harsh, outdoor conditions; that being said, truck scales require recalibration on a regular schedule. Precision Solutions, Inc is equipped with a heavy capacity weight truck and certified, traceable test weights to conduct truck scale calibrations. Our technicians are well-versed with both new and late model truck scales, and can provide solutions to keep your equipment compliant and operational. Our Integrated Solutions team can write custom programs to direct driver traffic, automate weighment-capture, and send truck scale data to remote weighmasters and scale-houses.

Testimonials From Our Customers

All of us at Precision Solutions are committed to exceeding our customers’ needs and expectations in all aspects of service, quality and overall satisfaction. We measure our success in happy customers. Here are a couple of customers who were willing to publicly share their experience with Precision Solutions:

“We thought we would save some money by having a scale company with lower rates repair our truck scale. It turns out the lower-priced service company isn’t always the less expensive solution. The “Lower Rate” company sent two service technicians for a full day and was unable to bring the scale back into service. We called the folks from Precision and they sent one service technician who repaired our scale and had us up and running in less than four hours. Their knowledge and years of experience are worth the higher hourly rate which in the end would have saved us a lot of money.” — Bryan Hughes, Haines & Kibblehouse, Inc.

“Once again, thank you on everyone’s behalf for certifying the weight of the new current world record for “largest chicken” at 24.18 pounds and establishing that fact beyond anyone’s reasonable doubt. It was the most critical and important part of the accomplishment that started with his hatching at Moyer’s Chicks in Quakertown to a final determination of the chicken’s actual exact weight/size. We don’t think that we could have asked for anything more professional, thorough or competent as how Precision Solutions handled the entire process and necessary documentation.” — Sue and Don Ritter, Absolute Pastured Poultry
